Nauyaca Dry Season

Seasons and Climates

Costa Rica has only two climatic seasons: the dry season, which runs from December to March, with March being the driest month, and the rainy season, which spans from May to October, with October being the wettest month. April and November are transitional months, experiencing a mix of sunny and rainy days. Due to this, the waterfall undergoes significant changes throughout the year, offering different but always majestic views of Nauyaca depending on when you visit. Below, we discuss the main changes the park undergoes, along with the advantages and disadvantages of each season. Seasons Dry Season The dry season is the most popular time for visitors at the waterfall, so expect to see more tourists in the park. The water flow decreases by up to 70%, altering the appearance of the waterfall. The upper part of the waterfall sees the most significant change as the pool and the fall reduce in volume, though water continues to flow. The days are very hot and dry, with temperatures ranging from 32 to 36 degrees Celsius, so bringing extra hydration is advisable. One of the advantages of this season is that the main pool becomes a giant natural swimming pool, perfect for swimming. During the dry season, the pool reaches a depth of 5 meters, and the water has no strong currents, making it easy to enter and enjoy.
